Jesus Christ dude, I've read some garbage before about the 'evils' of multiculturalism, but this would have to rank up there with the worst - let's have a look...
You say that the area around Whitechapel Road is an 'alcohol-restricted zone'. Many roads in inner-city London are - common council practice, nothing Islamic about it. Otherwise, the area around the mosque is rotten with (overpriced) pubs - 15 or 20 in the immediate area.
Parts of Leyton are a bit grim, but that's because of all sorts of rapid socio-economic change - not Muslim migrants. Yeah, there's a Sharia council, in same way there's Christian marriage counselling.

Speaking of marriage counselling, how many churches are there in Leyton?
Leyton is a multicultural area, this is true, and it's benefiting from it. Restaurants, bars and clubs opened by migrants are rejuvenating an area that was looking decidedly tired and worn out less than twenty years ago. The local economy is picking up.
Of course you saw women in niqabs, burqas and hijabs - you were standing outside a fucking mosque! If you went down the road, you could watch γιαγιάs heading into the Greek Orthodox for mass!
Of course nobody looked you in the eye - nobody looks each other in the eye in London! JFC! Go try that on the Tube and see how far that gets you! Christ, it's the subject of memes!
Now, as for Luton. You claimed you walked through the town centre. No you didn't, you walked through one neighbourhood - Bury Park. There are no mosques in the town centre of Luton. Bury Park has been a centre of Pakistani and other Asian (in the UK sense) migration for decades.
By the way, there are a number of thriving Christian congregations in and around Luton town centre, from the much-loved and venerable St Mary's, to the Evangelical Hope Church and many, many smaller Pentecostal churches - they sprout up in vacant buildings all the time!
You claimed that you passed three other mosques in Bury Park - okay, yes, there are a few masjids. There are also six churches - Methodist, Pentecostal and otherwise - within a very short distance of one another in that same area...
As for that 'decrepit' church, I'm willing to bet that it's the Calvary Church of God in Christ, housed in the former Odeon cinema and catering to Luton's African and Caribbean communities.

Trust me dude, they're thriving. Believe.
Not going to pretend that Muslim migration hasn't posed challenges, because it has - but communities like in Luton have worked hard to make a life for themselves here, & - get this - often place more importance in British national pride than white Britons! theguardian.com/world/2018/mar…
Having read your piece @andyngo, I gotta wonder - do you think we're all stupid? Are you lazy? What's the deal here? Nothing in your piece holds up to scrutiny in any meaningful way, as has been demonstrated. It's absolutely bereft of insight. It's utter pap.
If I was an editor at @WSJ, @NRO or @Quillette, I'd be embarrassed to publish such unresearched dreck. Whatever this is, it sure isn't journalism. Christ.

PPPS. Call me, @WSJ. I can turn in better stuff like this.
PPPPS. Sorry to @andyngo for pissing in his mentions. Direct your ire at @MrAndyNgo.
