I have much respect for Dr. Roberts as a clinical researcher and editor of AJC, but let me get this straight:
"Adults rarely consume one egg by itself. Eggs often come with bacon or sausage, buttered toast, french fries, and are often cooked in butter or other oils high in fat. They are sometimes covered with ketchup..."
So....the reason we should not eat eggs is that eggs sometimes are served with other foods that are unhealthy?

Question time (some of the specifics that follow have been changed slightly, but hopefully not enough that it affects the answqers): suppose that you've reported results of an RCT with HR=0.82 and p-value=0.08 for one of the trial's secondary outcomes.
You used the phrases "tended to ____ less" / "modest reduction in ____" / and "there was a small ____ benefit" to describe these results.
Not just one, but several of the manuscript reviewers say things along the lines of "The ____ results are not statistically different" and "The reported benefit of ____ has been overstated. There is no statistical significance"

TOPIC: P-Values In Table 1 of RCT's. Time to revisit this poll.
Thanks very much to the clinicians that responded. This came out better than expected, albeit the selection bias of “clinicians that follow statisticians on Twitter” suggests that the respondents are collectively better versed in data analysis than general research population
Anyways, putting p-values in Table 1 of RCT’s is an inappropriate use of significance testing, yet remains prevalent in medical literature, because it SEEMS to make so much sense (at least, the way most people have been taught p-values and statistical significance…)

This Indian budget doc suggests that in 2017-18 the govt is projected to earn Rs 19 lac crores as gross tax revenue

Of which the share of Income tax on individuals is ~4.4 lac crores - close to 23%

Now we all know that not everyone pays Income tax in this country. Barely 3% or even less do. (though I don't recall the latest number offhand).

And none of us relish paying income tax
There have been radical suggestions on this front from many voices perceived to be "zany".
