With all due respect Brock Long is wrong here. #slowdisaster
2. @MeetThePress @FEMA_Brock I understand the limits of what FEMA can do & I know what it’s legally required to do.
3. @MeetThePress @FEMA_Brock but the CDC guidelines dispute this take that somehow the disaster ends when the water subsides
4. I suppose this means a different authority needs to be tasked with health coordination throughout and after the disaster.
5. More evidence we need a total rethink in American disaster bureaucracy.
6. FEMA is a very small agency. If we are in the age of continual disaster then we need a new configuration of agencies and expertise.
7. I am personally a big fan of @fema & think it gets kicked around too much but it’s time to get serious now-bureaucratic reform is needed
8. Brock Long is a disaster response expert not an epidemiologist. He’s not a psychologist. He’s not an economist. Why should he be?
9. Why can’t we have a national lab for all hazards? Why can’t we combine USGS, NOAA, FEMA with a strong link to HHS and CDC?
10. Where is all the policy/organizational innovation this country used to be so good at? Now is the time. #slowdisaster
