2017 murder rates in the largest U.S. cities, according to FBI crime data released today. There's Baltimore and there's everywhere else.
For those asking, New York and Los Angeles don't even come close to the top of the list (LA is a bit below San Antonio). St. Louis would if it were bigger, but its population is well under 500k, which is the set I'm dealing with.
Because people asked, here's the top of the list for cities with more than 100,000 residents (with the caveat that rates for smaller cities might be less meaningful than in bigger ones because a single event can change them a lot). From the FBI 2017 crime data released yesterday:
