How do you @mgigaba announce changes without context? Without humility to acknowledge the damage you caused? Without even a one line "we thought it would work but we were wrong?" The reason you cannot do it is because you know how you and your team were arrogant & divisive.
I remember in the early days, how in interviews with critics, I gave you benefit of the doubt. How I challenged them to hear you out & not dismiss new regulations. But when evidence proved you were wrong, you promised to supply your evidence. You never did. You stopped listening
Governance is a huge matter. It requires dexterity, skills & foresight. How do you implement policies without empirical evidence? The problem is your ego. You were determined to push YOUR regulations through & no industry expert or citizen was going to tell you.
It also didn't helps that your boss was not enlightened & could not reign you in. So you implemented your regulations & 3 years later you come with amendments as if nothing has happened. Are you not embarrassed? Do you not see how this bumbling is a reflection of your aptitude?
Minister when are we going to have the REAL conversation? When are you going to be honest with the nation & tell us WHY you were adamant that your brainless Visa regulations for traveling with minors were personal? That we all had to tow the line because you had a domestic issue?
Is it not true that you were LIVID when a cousin of your ex wife travelled with your daughter Lerato, whilst your wife was in Cuba? Upon finding out, you laid charges of kidnapping..even though you knew your ex wife's cousin very well & your daughter was quite happy with her?
YOU had a personal issue of yr ex wife making travel arrangements with yr daughter without your consent, so you decided "I'll sort this problem out?" You implemented untested regulations, claiming to address child trafficking? Have your regulations brought child trafficking down?
The reality is that child trafficking experts tried to reach out to you, to advise you on how & where children are being trafficked. But you and your department wouldn't listen. You wanted to pass your regulations no matter what. Check the stats minister. Look at the trends
You will see that child trafficking and kidnapping (real kidnapping, not your ex wife making travel arrangements for your daughter without your consent) are on the increase. The question is, what are your ideas? What are you going to do about THAT real problem?
