Another group of detained dads went on a hunger strike, many were separated from their children. The fathers said ICE is threatening to separate them from their kids again if they don't eat. Reseparations have occurred before under similar circumstances buzzfeednews.com/article/adolfo…
There were 70 fathers on a hunger strike at Karnes County Residential Center yesterday but that number has gone down to four today after threats of being separated from their kids, according to Texas Immigrant and Refugee Network.
I spoke with one father yesterday who said he was frustrated at being held in immigration detention for six months. They're most likely being detained as a result of two federal lawsuits halting their deportations but also keeping the families in detention while they play out.
The Honduran father's concern was his wife and children back home. He was separated from his son for nearly 3 months.

"We have children and wives to support, families who need us. We can't help them if we're locked up."
Wasn’t clear earlier, the fathers are protesting their indefinite detention while they wait to see how their cases and their children’s cases are affected by the federal lawsuits launched to help separated immigrant families.
