By this standard, I can corroborate my parents' wedding. Sure, I wasn't even alive. But I've seen pictures and they told me about it. That counts, right? And I can totally corroborate that there was someone on the grassy knoll. It was Ted Cruz's dad.

The two chyrons CNN led off the 1 p.m. hour with exemplify the pathologies and dysfunction that have allowed Donald Trump to force the media to wear the "fake news" label like a scarlet letter from the moment he descended the escalator three years ago.
"Trump Spreads Lies & Stokes Fears Ahead of Elections" and "Trump Wages Fact-Free Campaign of Fear Before Elections" are exactly the sort of officious, clumsy, cackhanded editorializing that has permanently tarred the media with a reputation for partisanship and duplicity.
Clearly the memo went out for the MSM to push the "fear and lies" angle. Just look at these headlines from the Washington Post, New York Times, and Toronto Star, respectively.

Finished series 1 of "Unforgotten," a British mystery show about "historical" murders, which aired on PBS over the summer. It's quite well done, but the solution did feel a bit like it came out of left field.
One of the suspects was Bernard Hill, the captain of "Titanic" and Theoden in "Lord of the Rings." Another was Sir Tom Courtenay (Strelnikov in "Doctor Zhivago"), looking like Sir Alex Ferguson's doppelganger and sounding like Peter Sallis, aka Wallace in "Wallace and Gromit."
Anyway, if you like mysteries and have Prime, "Unforgotten" is worth checking out.

If you're an attorney who can't figure out how to defend a client from a 35-year-old allegation of sexual assault with no physical evidence, corroborating witnesses, and major gaps in the accuser's statement, you're incompetent or have an ulterior agenda. medium.com/s/story/three-…

I'm a sociologist who studies adolescent sexual violence. On this thread, I will be live tweeting the #Kavanaugh hearing, chiming in with sociological insights and research findings.
Full disclosure--I will probably step away for parts of it. While many conservatives have cast feminists as people who rejoice at allegations of sexual assault against powerful men, this is a painful process for us. We know survivors. We are survivors. And I will need breaks.
It does not bode well that the beginning of this hearing is starting with equating #Kavanaugh and #Ford's experiences with harassment following Dr. Ford's allegations. They are absolutely not the same.

Jesus H. Christ. They're selling laetrile as a snack food — which is not only a quack cure, it's poisonous. DO NOT EAT STONE FRUIT KERNELS; amygdalin (aka "vitamin B-17") metabolizes into cyanide.

The people running this company need to be in prison.

If your snack food has to have small type on the back saying "Do not consume more than 2-3 kernels per day... Health Canada warns that eating too many kernels may cause acute cyanide poisoning" then MAYBE YOU SHOULD NOT BE SELLING IT AS A FOOD PRODUCT.
As far as I can tell this company sells nothing but quack nostrums as "natural supplements." Their marketing is a solid wall of doublespeak with references to "ancient traditions" of various cultures they know their buyers won't know anything about.
