I went to the Best Buy and bought an LG G7. It was a mistake. The phone is unusably bad. I am returning it. It took me less than three hours to declare this phone garbage.
The chassis and hardware are pretty good. It has a really fast CPU in it which is part of why I got it, I was hoping to be a little future-proofed. But the OS is just fucking awful.
If I turn on Do Not Disturb it creates a persistent notification that can't be removed. I literally never, ever turn off DnD.

If I have a voicemail, it creates a persistent notification that can't be removed. This is intolerable.
The settings menu is a mess. I thought it was reasonable but it isn't. I can't get the navbar to be anything but glaring harsh white all the time.
If you turn on Bluetooth from the notifications quick panel, a moment later it pops up a dialog and makes you select a device to connect to. Manually. Then you have to manually press Close.
The OS is littered with shit like this. I used it at the store for a few minutes and felt really good about it, but after another few minutes (unfortunately after I'd already bought it) I realized the whole thing feels awkward and shitty.
All the phones I've seen so far with noticeably customized ROMs are a fuckfest shitshow. Stock Android phones don't exist anymore (I'm not interested in a pixel) so Android One seems to be the best bet.
