i decided to play with pygame a little. i created a sprite subclass, instantiated it and put it in a sprite list, and when i kill() it it never gets garbage collected so the program is instantly uselessly memory-leaky
this is 100% of my experiences trying to do anything interesting with code. i immediately hit a brick wall like this and i have no idea where to begin figuring it out, or if the helper library is fundamentally broken
i swear to god the only time in my life i ever got a *single inch* into this is when the only library i was using was SDL. if i use anything fucking else, i just spend endless hours trying to figure out the bizarre mentality of someone elses library instead of doing actual work

been watching a lot of speedruns and thinking again about how the way they break apart game design challenges my assumptions about how games are made
in the NES era in particular, I had always assumed that monsters were almost 100% RNG. it turns out they're more like 0% RNG. I'm not sure *why* I assumed that, because I knew better
When the NES was my only console, I played a small handful of games countless times. I never got good at any of them but for the parts I knew, I never got surprised. I would get my ass kicked by enemies I *knew* were coming.

no. their horrible, inhuman morality system says women can't do certain things, but it's not hypocrisy. to them this is internally consistent.
you aren't going to "own" them like this. it's like if someone walked up to you and said "oh, you SAY you want to destroy capitalism, but I saw you wear a BLUE SHIRT!" to you, it's just gibberish. It's absolute nonsense.
it's extremely normal and sensible to most conservative men that as soon as a woman does anything the least bit "wild" she becomes a Party Girl, marked for life, and loses all access to the public stage. the only life paths are "housewife" or maybe "real estate agent"

The media has sworn since both of their debut dates that the two idols have always hated each other. They’re only half right because while Taehyung might despise Jungkook and think he’s the most annoying brat, Jungkook is possibly Taehyung’s biggest fan.
Although they both debuted around the same time, Jungkook has always mentioned in interviews how much Taehyung inspires him. Jungkook is basically head over heels for Taehyung but most people have always thought of it as sarcasm or a facade, they’re so wrong.

ALTERNATIVES TO STEAMPUNK: A THREAD
First off: steampunk is definitely cool and I understand its appeal. The fusion of technological aesthetics with literary material so many of us grew up knowing (Jules Verne, HG Wells, etc.) provides a fertile ground for stories and art.
That being said steampunk...the way it's most commonly presented...has a load of issues. Mostly the preeminence of the British Empire as like, the basic unit of steampunk settings. The Victorian aesthetic all too often is uncritical of the imperial horrorshow that was the empire
