1. I am one of a majority of women in America. Yes, I am angry. And disgusted. And fearful over the direction of our country. But, I am far from powerless and with my sisters I make this pledge:
2. I am not ok with cruelly caging children, tearing them from their parents with no plan for reunification. I am not ok with creating orphans as a matter of government policy. I refuse to accept traumatizing children as an act of deterrence against immigration.
3. I am not ok with sitting by in denial while our planet faces certain peril and our children face uncertain futures for small economic gains from blind deregulation. We should be leading the world in our quest to stop climate change and protecting our precarious environment.
4. I am not ok with giving tax cuts to the rich while the wealth disparity continues to reach staggering heights and taking services from those who need it most. I’m not okay with cutting funds from life-sustaining programs to pay for the rich to get richer or ridiculous walls.
5. I am not ok with taking healthcare from millions of people and taking away protections for pre-existing conditions. Healthcare is not a perk for the wealthy, but a right for all people. I am not ok with letting my neighbors die because they can’t afford medical care.
6. I am not ok with policy driven by fear, hate, and bigotry. I’m not ok with banning people from our country because of their religion or banning people willing to serve our country because of their gender identity.
7. I am not ok with a #POTUS who stokes division, attacks our free press, defends white supremacists, and publicly debases those who disagree with him. I am not ok with treating our allies as adversaries and brutal dictators as friends, while vulgarly attacking our institutions.
8. I am not ok with a party majority that ignores the will of the people and caters only to a minority base. I am not ok with the voter suppression tactics and gerrymandering that makes this possible. I’m not ok with the unethical corruption that oozes from this Administration.
9. I am not ok with attacks against women’s healthcare access and choices. Or the disregard of victims of sexual abuse and the elevation of abusers to positions of the highest power. I am sickened at the message this sends to our daughters.
10. I am not ok with the disregard for the rule of law by those in power. I am not ok with the majority party circling the wagons, obstructing proper investigations, even attacking our judicial process to put their party agenda before the people and laws of our country.
11. I am not ok with being repeatedly, and exhaustingly, lied to by this Administration and those who speak for it. I demand truth, transparency and accountability and to be treated with respect by those who represent us.
12. They can call us an "angry mob" - what we are is a majority that knows we are better than this. I will vote on November 6. I will make calls, raise money, knock on doors and get out every vote I can. And I am not alone. #DemsWork4USA#WinBlue#BlueWave#Election2018

1. Some people are saying that #Juneteenth is just a symbol - low hanging fruit that doesn't address the very real problems on the table like police reform, voting rights, wealth inequality, etc. They are right, of course, but symbols aren't irrelevant to social change.
2. Systemic racism is reflected in generations of accepted thinking in this country - and while we fight for change and the fruits seem sometimes insignificant, there will be differences in the accepted social norms for the next generation, and so on. That matters.
3. The Confederate Flag is a symbol with a message that has been tacitly allowed for the sake of 'white history', as are the statues, as was even the racially debasing language I heard regularly growing up. We're seeing these social shifts play out.
🧵1. There are a lot of political organizations out there and a lot of candidate endorsements. I co-founded @DemsWork4USA with @sumoh7 in 2017. We take a strategic approach to grassroots activism. We believe we need more money on the ground, not more money in ads.
2. Make no mistake - there is a grassroots army, and they are uniquely positioned to assess candidates and address gaps in the party infrastructure. Our goal is to provide a framework to leverage and maximize the power of on the ground activists - and translate it into wins.
3. We utilize a "grassroots up", multi-state, multi-cycle and longitudinal strategy to channel grassroots support toward candidates that will result in winning seats, retaining seats and building the bench. This is all critical to passing policy at the state and federal level.
My 5th great-grandfather was Chief Kiyo’kaga Keokuk of the Sauk, then Sauk/Fox tribe. He tried to be a diplomat. He sided against the British in the War of 1812. He entered into the Fourth Treaty of Prairie du Chien, resulting in war with with Chief Blackhawk of the Fox tribe. 1/
He moved his people to Kansas, as it was agreed. After his death, my 4th great uncle, Moses Keokuk became Chief and moved his people again to the Oklahoma Territory - which, @TedCruz thinks was somehow stolen today. 2/
The sense of the decisions made by my family members in their leadership roles can be debated. But, I can only imagine how horrifying the betrayal was to witness. Today was some semblance (and I mean semblance) of justice. @tedcruz needs to apologize and sit down.
