So here's the story of the greatest psychic trick I ever pulled featuring @loneblockbuster
So in the early 90's i would always go into the Oak Bay Blockbuster and go thru the 'For Sale' bin. These were VHS movies that were shrink-wrapped to be sold after they had completed their rental lives. They had one of the thin box sides cut off for the plastic boxes
I found a movie called "Steel Cowboy" that just looked ASTOUNDING!!! rottentomatoes.com/m/the_steel_co… The box art was everything I ever wanted
I took it home, and it turned out that the movie in the box was actually some terrible Hallmark Rom-com, let's call it "Summer Rain" Oh well, I really just wanted the box
Weeks later, digging thru the bin, I find 'Summer Rain". I take the, cling-wrap sealed movie to the counter and say
"I am buying this, but I don't believe the right movie is in the box" Buddy says "what do you mean?" I hold the box to my forehead and say "This box contains Steel Cowboy" I buy the movie and ask the counter guy to open it. Al the other workers are watching
he opens the plastic and holds up the VHS cart and says, in a very serious voice, "Steel Cowboy". I said "thank you" and walked out. For months, they grilled me about how I knew that.
I never told them, and I think that until this day, there are guys saying "You know the weirdest thing I ever saw..."
