Came across an essay on him by Mysore Hiriyanna that sheds some light on his masterpiece - "Uttara Rama Charita"

How does it differ from Uttara Kanda in Valmiki Ramayana on which it is based
Some biographical details on Bhavabhuti

He belongs to the early part of 8th century - a native of Vidarbha, who nevertheless spent most of his career in the court of the Kannauj king Yashovarman = who was a successor to Harsha, though not related to him
We are also told by Hiriyanna that Bhavabhuti was a student of the great Mimamsa scholar Kumarila Bhatta

He is best known for his two Ramayana based plays - Mahaviracharita (deals with Rama's early life) and Uttara Rama Charita (based on Uttara Kandam)

Sanskrit, like Latin / Greek, is one of the few truly cosmopolitan languages. You could be Abhinavagupta from Kashmir, or yAmunAcArya from Srirangam - the language is the same

Perhaps the only Indian language that transcends geography and ethnicity
Secondly - Sanskrit makes nearly all of Indian intellectual history accessible to you, which would otherwise be shrouded

There is no way to understand the evolution of Indian thought without knowing Sanskrit

A Tamil may roll his eyes at hearing the Hindi word Baras, but he will stop viewing it as "alien" once he realizes that Baras is merely the Prakrit form of "Varsham" - a Sanskrit word that he uses everyday

The "Progressive" conceit in matters of religion is often annoying

Did the makers of modern India provide "proper philosophical explanations" to justify their choice of "universal adult franchise", or "westminster-like parliamentary system" when they wrote the Constitution?

No
Eg - Why did we not opt for a phased transition to universal franchise?

Why did we not consider an upper house similar to the American Senate with direct elections?

Why did we end up with a sinecure "President" as head of state?
I don't have good answers to these questions, and don't have strong opinions either way

Maybe the right choices were indeed made

But the point is - the debates really did not happen on these crucial issues, nor was the process of ratification as democratic as it could have been

So far, explanations from most climate scientists is first order basic "warmer water = stronger hurricanes" when discussing Hurricane Michael's intensity. But if it were that simple, Florence would not have (unexpectedly) fallen apart prior to landfall. My hypothesis:
First of all, an SST anomaly does not do anything. Anomalies are subtractions from an arbitrary climatology built usually upon the seasonal cycle and the previous decade(s) -- often 30-years.

Here is the "climatology" actual SST in Gulf on October 9th.
The actual ocean temperatures near the coastline are relatively cooler than the central and southern Gulf of Mexico. There is a zonal gradient of about 2°C over 5-degrees of latitude. What's going on?

Drove from #Bangalore to #Hospet, a distance of 350 km, on March 25th to see the #Hampi ruins. Instead of going back via Chitradurga, turned onto NH 150A from NH 48 at Hiriyur. The Hiriyur - Hospet stretch has much less traffic compared to Chitradurga-Hospet. #IndiaRoadTrip
Soon after crossing Hiriyur en route to #Hospet (near #Hampi), the landscape transformed itself dramatically. There were beautiful craggy hills and fields with the characteristic red soil of the region, with moderate to scanty vegetation. #IndiaRoadTrip
The #Hiriyur to #Hospet route goes close to #Bellary (now #Ballary), w/ its many mines of the best quality iron. Saw trucks transporting iron ore plying on this route. Incidentally, Bellary has often been in the news for rampant illegal mining & export of iron ore. #IndiaRoadTrip
