Because of the convergence of so many major stories, this one isn’t getting the attention it deserves except within the world of the Catholic hierarchy and Catholic press. This portends a great deal, and underscores why @Pontifex delay re Wuerl (and the washingtonpost.com/world/national…
decision to leave Wuerl as “Administrator”) was so disastrous. DOJ officials have obviously decided the dioceses cannot be trusted to have come clean, even when they are administered by new reformers. The Wuerl record in Pittsburgh was so awful re hiding facts from Review Board
it is difficult to see what the DOJ could do other than pursue this federal case, and it doesn’t seem likely to end with just Pennsylvania. @Pontifex still appears clueless as to what it means to have the U.S. DOJ treating the Church as a potential criminal conspiracy.
