Thomas Keating, OCSO, Trappist monk, one of the leading teachers of Centering Prayer, former abbot of St. Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, Mass., and longtime monk of St. Benedict's in Snowmass, Colorado, has died. Fr. Keating brought so many people closer to God. May he rest in peace.
Through his Masses, retreats, lectures and workshops, Father Keating--along with M. Basil Pennington, another Trappist--was the person most responsible for introducing millions to the Christian approach to centering prayer in this country and around the world.
A good place to start to explore his work on centering prayer is with his book (co-written with Basil Pennington, OCSO, and Thomas Clarke, SJ): "Finding Grace at the Center: The Beginning of Centering Prayer."
