1. Woman calls Portland parking authority (not cops) b/c a car's blocking crosswalk

2. Owners of car happen to be black (caller didn't know)

3. Journos play up nonexistent racism angle

4. Asshole geniuses of Twitter busily get to work
doxing and trying to ruin her
2/ Public shaming of random people is really really bad. In this case, EVERYONE WHO HAS READ THE STORY KNOWS that she didn't know the race of the car's owner. Should this woman be driven from her life for... being too enthusiastic about parking enforcement? You guys are dicks.
3/ @alex_zee do you think your publication will bear any responsibility if this woman gets death threats because you guys initially misreported that she called the cops and didn't make it clear that race wasn't a factor here?
4/ No one can accuse me of not taking online shaming/harassment from the right seriously. I've written in depth about it. But this is ridiculous and everyone involved should be ashamed -- ESPECIALLY journalists. It's just gross exploitative clickbait.

5/ How about you, @SACrockettJr? Will you feel guilty if this woman gets death threats given that according to the timeline you laid out in your own writeup, she reported the car before knowing the race of the owner?
@SACrockettJr PS -- @portlandmercury previously wrote an inflammatory article a/b two white women who opened a burrito joint. The women had to close their business b/c of a flurry of death threats, after which the paper yanked the story with no explanation.

Once Crosswalk Cathy gets death threats -- I'm sure she will! -- @portlandmercury will have been responsible for not one but two recent instances of driving violence-tinged harassment toward citizens of its own community, all in the name of very cynical social-justice clicks.
@portlandmercury You can read the Mercury's deleted coverage of these (admittedly naive-sounding) women here:

Words like "colonized," "preyed upon," "predatory," "hijacking of... cultures," "poaching," "erasing and exploiting," all in reference to... burritos
