So, me and my dad went to Gran Ran tonight and when we were finally seated these white girls were mocking the way Asians talk, you know, the stereotypical “Ching chang Chong” bs.
I’m half Japanese, half black and my dad, who’s black and is married to a Japanese woman was clearly offended. I thought they were gonna do it once and be done, but no. This one particular girl kept doing it repeatedly, and her friends just laughed or joined in.
So me and my dad decided to record her and as you can see, she didn’t care that she was being recorded being blatantly racist.
Turns out my dad heard the conversation that started the mocking in the first place. They were upset that the waiter “couldn’t speak English” and sounded like Asians.
We recorded them and I saw one person at their table try to record us after but like.. we’re eating. Not being racist, so idk what you’re trying to catch us do. And I overheard them and the girls’ friends started getting concerned. “Think about what they could do with that video”
When me and my dad were almost done eating, one of their dads came up to us with his phone camera in our face talking about “oh, so you want to record? Well how does it feel being recorded?” And asked my dad what he was going to do about it, trying to get him to fight.
The whole time the camera was on me I made sure to mention how racist those girls were being and how racist he must be if he found a problem with it. Then he decided to ask why we even cared, cause I guess we just looked straight black to him.
I told him I cared cause I’m half Asian and he pointed the camera at my dad and my dad said “My wife is Japanese”. He was clearly stumped and one of his friends/another one of the girls dads came over to take him back to the table he came from.
Luckily this family that was sitting next to us was just like, “I’m so sorry idk what happened” and the dad or that fam came up to me and my dad after and told us he’d wait with his family outside to make sure we left safely and those people didn’t mess with us.
When we went to the cash register and the cashier asked what happened, we told her. She said that girl actually comes there pretty often, isn’t that crazy? You not only mocked two races at once, but you mocked one that was serving you.
If you know her, put her in check or don’t be friends with her at all. Cause she clearly doesn’t care if she’s offending people. It’s mfing 2018, and she’s ok with blatant racism? Nah. That’s not gonna fly anymore. DON’T let that fly anymore.
