'You’ve Been Trumped Too'

The Documentary That Trump ‘Doesn’t Want You To See’ To Be Released Worldwide

#Trump* Has Tried To Block The Film From Being Seen For The Past Four Years…
"A damning documentary about Donald #Trump* that the US president “doesn’t want you to see” is getting released worldwide."

"Having been held back by legal threats from the #TrumpOrganisation for the past four years, 'You’ve Been Trumped Too' has been picked up for release...
... and will arrive less than three months before the #2020Election. The documentary explores the “deeply troubling” confrontation between #Trump* and 96-year-old Scottish widow #MollyForbes half a decade after it’s discovered that the president’s workers shut off...

Scout, our expert archaeologist, investigates the well of the Principia at Bar Hill #Roman fort on the Antonine Wall ( @AntonineWall), #Scotland. Bar Hill was built c142AD & from this 43 foot deep well many items have been recovered, including shoes from men, women & children.
Bar Hill is near #Cumbernauld in #Scotland and is one of several forts along the Antonine Wall. Built in c142AD this clip shows the Principia and well, from where many objects were recovered, including shoes, coins and pieces of altars.
Now in the Hunterian Museum Collection this 2nd century #Roman gravestone, originally from Bar Hill Fort, is for Salamanes, who died aged 15. It was dedicated for him by his father - the name of the boy suggests he may have travelled to #Scotland from the Middle East.

A short thread about resisting the #kleptofascist takeover, with an added last-ditch family appeal. 😐✊🌹🇪🇺 #resist #StopFascism #RuleOfLaw
When the execrable Cummings/Johnson regime launched its attack on Parliament back in August, I was horrified: this was in fact a coup against democracy. Like thousands of others, I hit the streets to protest. 😖✊🌹🇪🇺 #StopTheCoup #resist #JohnsonMustGo #RuleOfLaw
As a historian with Asperger’s & misophonia, the idea of giant crowds is truly horrifying to me, and I’d much rather be quietly writing books in the countryside… 😐✊🌹🇪🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #autism #Aspergers #AutismStrong #resist

The Drunkard of Europe

IT WAS ONE OF THE WORST DAYS OF MY LIFE. I know for a fact it was the worst day in at least two people’s lives. In the early hours of the morning the phone rang. On the other end of the phone my friend was speaking to me in a stranger’s voice
. Her husband was beside himself with shock and grief, and she was calmly explaining to me what had happened. I say ‘calmly,’ but this wasn’t calm. It was emotionless, a sort of thousand-yard stare of a voice, producing something that sounded for all the world like the person
I knew while she was somewhere else. This voice was absent, it was hollow, and this voice woke me up. Their beautiful baby daughter had died in her sleep. An hour later I was standing by this little angel’s cot, receiving her into my arms from her mother.

With #coronavirus infection rates falling in #Scotland, is it possible that new cases could be imported from parts of England where the virus is still more of a problem? I took a gander at @transcotland data for @BBCScotlandNews to find out...
In recent days a Times story stated 1000s of vehicles were crossing the English border into Scotland from an area with a rising coronavirus infection rate.

And just last week the Scottish Gov't warned about a rise in traffic despite lockdown restrictions still being in place.
Are these claims true, and should we be worried?

Racism is another public health crisis, one that's killed many more than #COVID19 #SARSCoV2.

But actions we take now shouldn't give the virus an advantage. If you plan to #BlackLivesMatter protest in #Scotland #Glasgow #Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Sunday - a thread 🧵 on reducing risk.

@NicolaSturgeon has already pledged support of #BlackLivesMatter & acknowledged the strong feelings about the protest.

However, it's important to follow gov't guidelines on what's permitted in #Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 on Sunday.

If they happen, & you go, here's how to reduce risk:

Protest risk reduction:
- Walk, cycle, drive there, no public transport 🚶🏾‍♂️🚴🏿‍♀️🚗
- Don't attend with *any* symptoms 🚫🤒🤧
- Wear a mask 😷 & change every 4 hrs 🕓
- Stay 2m apart always 🕺🏿↔️💃🏽
- Bring own water, signs etc - don't share! 🥤🚧
- Follow organiser guidance 📢🦺

For #GoodFriday, the Pilate stone, a damaged limestone block and which mentions Pontus Pilate, the #Roman Prefect of Judea from AD26-36. This stone, found at the archaeological site of Caesarea Maritima in 1961 is the earliest surviving, and only contemporary record of Pilate.
The partial inscription on the Pilate Stone reads
The translation is :
To the Divine Augusti [this] Tiberieum
...Pontius Pilate
...prefect of Judea
...has dedicated [this]
Pontius Pilate is mentioned in several sources near the time in which he lived, such as the Embassy to Gaius (c41 CE) by Philo of Alexandria, the Jewish Wars (c.74 CE) & Antiquities of the Jews (c.94 CE) by Josephus, & the four Gospels by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (AD66-110).

Good morning all & OTD 700 years ago, the Declaration of Arbroath was made by the Scots Nobility & Clergy to the Pope: "It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom–for that alone which no honest man gives up but with life itself"🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Today is the 700th anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath (1320) and all of it is worth reading as a statement of the rights conferred by God & natural law upon all peoples

@AlexMacLeod9 @weeseabee @LydiaReidYES2 Scotland currently has capacity to PCR test ~800 people a day.

85 new cases today in Scotland. Many people being diagnosed by symptoms/scans now. There's no capacity for mass testing. Or even NHS staff testing. Yet.

But sampling, & NHS testing, ARE being rolled out in Scotland.
@AlexMacLeod9 @weeseabee @LydiaReidYES2 Be clear: that is the case in almost every country in the world.

S Korea and China did a bit better. But with bigger numbers and higher stakes.

Some small, very rich countries with advanced public health systems are doing quite a lot better. As you would expect.
@AlexMacLeod9 @weeseabee @LydiaReidYES2 But nowhere is there enough PCR capacity to do mass screening. And it is the wrong test.

Even if someone is disease free one day, they might not be the next day.

PCR looks for live viral genetic signatures from body fluids.

Immunology tests are needed for mass screening.

@jlbps @the3million Indyref will likely *not* come in time, even if it was this year and successful. That means #Scotland has to look at mitigating the damage inflicted upon EU citizens and not least of all the Scottish economy.

Currently, we aren't using the powers we have to do so.
@jlbps @the3million There is need for a discrimination reporting mechanism and a public anti-discrimination campaign. There should be a Holyrood working group looking at all means of creating equality between all residents of Scotland regardless of nationality, using existing powers.
@jlbps @the3million There is need for an emergency fund for those families and individuals affected, especially those dealing with disabilities and ill health, women (who a disproportionately affected by both Brexit and the Hostile Environment) and those on small to no income, OOW and UC.

In her Hogmanay speech @NicolaSturgeon stated: "We will provide support and reassurance for the #EUcitizens who have done us the honour of choosing to make #Scotland their home."

Here is how we can begin to constructively fulfill that promise:…
1. EU citizens will face discrimination by Brexit/HostileEnv design. Those who have Settled Status need a physical token not offered by the Home Office but any individuals status can be checked online - including by @scotgov who should issue a #ScottishResidencyCard open to all.
2. All residents of #Scotland are equally affected by Scots Law, yet not all are protected by it. For 2020 I hope to see an all-party, multi-disciplinary Equality workgroup at the Scottish parliament finding & using Scots law & powers to enhance equality and protect all Scots.

No, REALLY, guys. A flat out No from Number 10 is great news and can totally be challenged in court. If @theSNP get a move on UK might even miss another Brexit deadline and we might just be able to still challenge at ECJ level.

How might such a court case look? How about...
Imagine the Scottish government's sec 30 request has been barred by WM and British courts. Scotland can now seek clarification from the ECJ:

Which democratic means will the EU accept as legally valid expression of the will of the Scottish people to become an independent nation?

As the 1st stage debate on #Scotland's #ElectoralFranchiseBill kicks off I'll be live tweeting.
To pass the bill will require a 66% supermajority & proposes voting rights for prisoners (sentences <12mo), refugees, asylum seekers & 3rd country nationals/EU citizens (post-Brexit).
Worth bearing in mind: circa 200k EU citizens, 5k refugees asylum seekers and <1k eligible prisoners + ?k of 3rd country nationals.

This bill addresses the current non-compliance with EU Charter of Human rights.
The @Feorlean kicks off the debate with an opening statement.@ProfTomkins asks what value citizenship has if voting franchise is connected to residency rather than nationality. Mike Russel replies "The franchise always needs to move on.". 👏
