Let's look at another person Turkey's list - Ralph Peters.

Peters is a retired US Army lieutenant colonel, author and television commentator.
Peters told the Washington Free Beacon in November 2016 he would not vote for the "Putin-loving" Donald Trump.

In March 2018, Peters quit his role as expert commentator on Fox News. He now appears on CNN, even though he once called Obama a "total p*ssy."

From the Washington Free Beacon (he's featured quite a bit on that website 🤨), Peters accused Trump of violating the bedrock principle of attacking another member of NATO.

Unironically, Peters suggested Turkey should be kicked out of NATO. (so much for bedrock principles).

I have no idea what, if anything, Peters had to do with the attempted coup in Turkey.

But to Joe's point, he's clearly anti-Trump.

If you’re a senior professor (of any race) and come into contact with a minority academic who is junior to you, your number one responsibility is to see how you can support that person. THEN maybe you can ask them for a favor, like advising you on diversity.
I had a person way more senior to me in the field, a man of color who is now known to be a “good advocate,” approach me solely for advice on how he could do better on diversity. Never once offered to support me professionally.
I didn’t get back to him actually because at the time he asked me I was dealing with an academic abuse situation — had he reached out and offered to support me maybe he could have helped. But instead he was just another person on a list of people who wanted something from me.
