Reading about the Andamans for past few days... I came across a serious congi-UPA days treachery in the process.. It involved denying permission to the Indian coast guard to set up a RADAR facility on a remote dormant volcanic island called Narcondam island. (1) 
Circled in pink is the Narcondam island. Its one of the farthest islands from the main Andaman island. Its located in a very strategic location. The island encircled in red is the coco island that nehru gifted away to Burma. The Chinese have installed surveillance tech there.
In 2011-12 the Indian coast guard requested the then congi-UPA govt clearance to set up a radar surveillance facility to monitor the Chinese.The National Board for Wildlife under a guy named Asad Rahmani refused clearance citing endangerment to a species called Narcondam Hornbill

This congi treachery was undone by Modi govt within 15 days of taking charge in june of 2014. The then Union minister for Environment @PrakashJavdekar immediately cleared the project. Here's ET article dated 12th june mentioning project clearance m.economictimes.com/news/environme…
For all the criticism @PrakashJavdekar gets, he deserves credit for clearing this crucial radar facility with lightning speed. Am sure there are many more congi-UPA era treachery that are yet to come to light.
