Little noticed but important provision in WI GOPs lame-duck power grab. The legislature wants to strip the Governor of power to negotiate waivers with the federal government. This is important for two reasons 1/ thewheelerreport.com/wheeler_docs/f…
First, Evers cannot undo policies like extensive work requirements for those on foodstamps. More than 150K people have lost coverage to FoodShare in the state, partly because of the administrative burdens that come with the reporting requirements. 2/ washingtonpost.com/national/healt…

Second, WI has a rich tradition of Governors using waivers to make innovative policy. Thompson with welfare reform, Doyle to expand health insurance, Walker to impose work requirements. May be wrong, but cannot recall a time when the legislature controlled the process 4/
