Took the kids to see Lost Landscapes of San Francisco tonight at the Castro Theater - an event from @longnow that is 90 minutes of live-narrated archival video of ye olde San Francisco.
It was great! And I was pleasantly surprised that they opened the event with a formal acknowledgement of the Native American tribes who used to own the land we were on.
I saw that a lot at events in Australia & New Zealand. It was odd af first, but I came to really appreciate the way it kept the appropriation of native lands in current conversation.

I hope to see that kind of acknowledgement at more events (including my own!).
Lost Landscapes of SF is at the Castro again tomorrow. They’ll also apparently be playing it from the top of the Salesforce tower later this week.

See the sunset when it was just sand dunes, rincon hill before it was leveled for the bay bridge, & all kinds of other neat stuff!
Thanks @williampietri for inviting me. It was totally worth dragging two reluctant (until popcorn was mentioned) kids down to the Castro.
