Today marks my 7th anniversary since I first walked through the doors at Wizards and began doing work on Magic. It's been a crazy seven years with all sorts of highs and lows.
Yesterday was our company All Hands meeting and it was a great day. A few highlights:
1. We got a very exciting look at what next year holds for Wizards. I had good visibility into Magic, but there were still some surprises, and also I got a look at what is coming for D&D which was SUPER exciting as well. #wotcstaff
2. Speaking on a panel along with @MishyFishyWhoo, @Gregtito, and @priceofprogress about our work in the company with influencers for our games and what an important role our fans are to spreading the word about what we make.
3. Being recognized by the company and given an award with @MishyFishyWhoo, @priceofprogress, @elambferro, @Gregtito, @PelhamGreene and others for our work this past year. It was a huge honor and a hell of a surprise.
I got to work on some amazing projects this year, from our stream at TwitchCon, to Spellslingers, to Magic Moment with @hitRECordJoe. It's been an amazing year. But saying that...
I can honestly say this next year is the most exciting year for me since I started working at the company. We have so many awesome things in store for you all.

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended WWI, which was also a Sunday. It's easy to focus solely on the European theatre of the war & ignore happenings elsewhere so ITT I aim to shed light on some of the events of the Egyptian theatre.

Egypt, at the time, was a de jure province of the Ottoman Empire, although it had actually been a de facto British protectorate since 1882.
When the Ottomans aligned w/ the Central Powers in 1914, Egypt's nationalist & independent-minded Khedive Abbas Helmy II Pasha was removed by the British & replaced w/ his pro-British uncle Hussein Kamel, who was made Sultan. This marked the de jure end of Egypt's Ottoman era.

Nasser Al-Qudwa, Palestinian former Ambassador to the UN/New York (+ later Palestinian Foreign Minister), was the man who worked to bring about this ICJ Advisory Opinion -- it is the direct result of a request emanating from the membership of the UN General Assembly.

Today, I walked through the doors of a company I used to work for. I wasn’t an employee. I was a consultant. The organization hired @LangstonLeague to run professional development for their educators and they are officially a recurring client.

It was phenomenal.
I remember hearing the stat that only 1.9% of the educator workforce in America were black men. It broke my heart. I almost didn’t believe it. Around me were so many dope black male educators, everyday. I intentionally looked for more. I refused to give anyone an excuse.
50% of @LangstonLeague educators are men of color and they dominated this week. They taught workshops, PDs, and facilitated ciphers. They told engaging narratives and gamified sessions. The kept lifelong scholars in awe. I was told that it wasn’t possible. They are my possible.

Today marks the 30th anniversary of Saddam’s chemical weapons attack in Halabja—5000 Kurds were killed.

The U.S. continued to support Saddam and diluted condemnations in the U.N. to protect him.
Before Halabja, Iran brought the case of Saddam's chemical weapons attacks to the UN as early as 1983, but lacked evidence implicating Iraq.

The U.S. had the evidence, but chose to protect Saddam while Western pharmaceutical companies sent him materiel.
CIA documents from 1983 and 1984 reveal that U.S. intelligence was fully aware of Saddam's use of chemical weapons, and continued to support him anyway:
