I am very tempted to write something about the cowardice, liberalism, & cynical careerism that masquerades as (most) "radicalism" in the academy & the reigns of terror & exploitation it enables, but maybe those guys hate me enough already & anyway what good would it do?
anyway at the moment I think it's more important to try to get the word out that a NATO infrastructure of tanks, jets, & attack helicopter supplied & maintained by Americans & European is about to launch genocidal attacks on revolutionary feminists in Syria so for now, whatever
oh and I have written one thing about my own experiences at Yale not exactly on this topic but close

1/ the funeral was held today for the Yezidi leader Mam Zekî Şengalî, assassinated by a targeted Turkish airstrike while returning from a commemoration of a massacre of only four years ago, I thought I would commemorate him by tweeting some extracts from a visit to Shengal in May
2/ Mam Zekî Şengalî was one of those who received us, & gave us a summary of the current situation in Shengal (Arabic SInjar), and of events leading up to the genocide of August 2014, which the Yezidis refer to as a "ferman", which also means "order of the Sultan"
3/ Shengal, they emphasised, has not recovered from 2014; Daesh (ISIS) may be gone but devastation & destruction is everywhere, the city lies in ruins [we witnessed this; it was comparable to Raqqa] & many of those who fled have not returned which makes rebuilding difficult

I'm wondering if I should write something about the Weinstein case but it's kind of painful & personal, since has to do with my mother.
Weinstein seems to have been particularly bad but this kind of abuse is absolutely systemic, the "casting couch" goes back to the 1910s
3/ what I'd write about would be an extension of my bully piece, in a way, as it's about both the psychological effects on the self-esteem..

Very cool of you to take the time (yet again) to explain the obvious. I had a sitch w/close friends & followers regarding same. My response very similar. Their are so many variables, unforeseen complications & necessary changes happening behind the scenes based on those factors

I’ve been meaning to talk about Americans and our sadistic relationship to war & masochistic relationship to capitalistic exploitation & why, like everything, it’s mostly down to history & geography, for a long time.

That time is now. Patience, if you will.
It’s no secret that Americans love war. At least, a large number of us do. We love it because it makes jobs & cool music & neat images on the nightly news, but more importantly, we love it because it always happens Somewhere Else. We can tune in, but we never have to tough it out
US military is entirely volunteer & since Vietnam, the draft has been off the table as a viable political tool. The highest price most Americans pay for war is at the gas pump, which lets us view conflict as, more or less, a movie we buy tickets to but, you know, not in 3D.

Now we get to strand b/ of criticism of Steven Pinker's "Enlightenment Now". That is, "Inequality! [& often then] Therefore Pinker is a racist, sexist, transphobe scumbag who should be scorned".
As @salonium pointed out, most of that criticism is easy to dismiss. And yet...
Here are @salonium's own words (in quillette.com/2018/03/11/ste…) on dismissing some such criticisms; and let's face it, she's right. Except, arrghh whoops, this means an entire system of "#humanism" values being adopted *as well as* techno yada, and things really aren't that simple.
As @salonium herself points out, that vague values bundle includes #liberalism. And that's OK... except liberalism (& objective science) are under attack, & except Pinker simply unconsciously assumes far too much, as we shall see. But first, @salonium on some critics:
