Tonight the federal judge in Texas who declared the entire Affordable Care Act invalid agreed to put his ruling on hold while an appeal is pending assets.documentcloud.org/documents/5671… Previously: buzzfeednews.com/article/paulmc…
The Democratic state AGs defending Obamacare had asked for a stay pending appeal to the 5th Circuit, and Texas/Republican AGs and the Trump administration had said they were okay with that
Judge Reed O'Connor wrote that he believed the 5th Circuit "is unlikely to disagree" with his analysis on the affordable care act, but he agreed to the stay "because many everyday Americans would otherwise face great uncertainty during the pendency of appeal"

Remember how a judge slammed the lawyer repping Concord Management in the Mueller Russian troll farm case on Monday (see: buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…) and then had a brief sealed proceeding. The transcript has been unsealed, here's what went down:
The judge said in open court that she was sealing the room to talk about Concord's motion to compel discovery re: how Mueller's office got info that Concord said was confidential. The govt had asked to respond under seal, saying they'd need to discuss a pending grand jury matter
After the courtroom was closed (and we were all kicked out), Judge Friedrich started to ask Concord's lawyer Eric Dubelier a question, but he said he wasn't prepared for a motion hearing, and also needed to talk to his client about the judge's criticism of his conduct

At the DC Council this a.m. waiting for a vote on the LOVE Act, and listening to Councilmember Grosso intro a bill to legalize and regulate sales of marijuana. "This council should be unapologetic in pursuing what is best for our constituents." Background: dcist.com/story/19/01/07…
The LOVE Act is up — this emergency legislation will make it possible for couples to get a marriage license in DC during the govt shutdown. It's being introduced by Councilmember Brandon Todd at the request of DC Mayor Muriel Bowser
