The Chang'e-4 spacecraft is expected to attempt an unprecedented landing on the far side of the Moon sometime within the next 24 hours. Rumors suggest a landing between 00:30-01:00 UTC Thursday (08:30 Beijing time/19:30 Eastern, 16:30 Pacific Weds).
Here's where Chang'e-4 is attempting to land: the southern portion of the 186-km-diameter Von Kármán crater within the South-Pole Aitken (SPA) basin. Crucially Von Kármán offers relatively flat areas on the more rugged & variable lunar far side. More: bit.ly/2LDsPQl 
The ~2,500 km wide, 12 km deep SPA basin is one of the oldest impact structures in the solar system & is expected to hold clues to the history of the solar system, the late heavy bombardment & dev of terrestrial planet . Phil Stooke has listed & mapped the CE-4 candidate sites.

Following Chang'e-4 has been a real challenge, with few official updates in the run-up to or following launch. Thankfully amateur astronomers/trackers including @coastal8049 @uhf_satcom & @df2mz have been tracking the Queqiao & CE-4 spacecraft & verifying activity. Awesome job.
Regarding the silence over the landing time: My understanding is that folk involved have been...told...to keep their gobs shut until after Xinhua news agency reports a successful landing (if turns out well).

Chang'e-4 is a landing mission that is much more challenging than the 2013 Chang'e-3 near side mission in a number of ways. This landing will help with China's further lunar exploration plans (south pole landings, sample returns) bit.ly/2Ahmbun
