The government is disclosing in this indictment that they've got access to Veselnitskaya's communications with other Russians, including the Russian prosecutor general's office and Petr Katsyv.
Imagine the process of getting a warrant approved to secretly observe the privileged email traffic of a member of the defense team--who's in contact w US defense lawyers--in a case where the US govt is the opposite party. What kind of evidence must they have shown that judge?
A question: is the matter stated in the screenshot above—how often one lawyer on a defense team emailed the others during a given period of client work—itself privileged?
