Hey so hey so hey so hey.

The Campbell Award is given at Worldcon, during the same ceremony as the Hugos (although it's not a Hugo) to the "Best New Writer" in our huge and tangled genre. It's a two-year clock, starting with your first pro publication.
I won the Campbell Award in 2010, in my first year of eligibility. It was one of the most amazing moments of my life.
Unfortunately, because of that two-year clock, a lot of authors--amazing authors--don't achieve the visibility necessary to make the Campbell ballot before their eligibility expires. It's the nature of the beast, as it were.
So hey I wanna take a moment to make sure y'all are aware that @Galactoglucoman, the fabulous and funny and incredibly knowledgeable about wood J.S. Fields, is in their second year of Campbell eligibility.
This is an award given for potential, promise, scope of work performed thus far--basically the full two years. It's not a Hugo in part because it's not about any one specific piece. It's about EVERYTHING.
And with that in mind, and having read far too much far too quickly because sometimes Seanans are Just Like That, I can say with assurance that @Galactoglucoman is on my list of nominations, and deserves a second look from anyone still trying to fill out their own list.
I'm also curious about who else is eligible this year, so please feel free to sound off here if you want to be sure people know you could be invited to this party. It's going to be a really good time, and it's always an amazing way to discover new-to-you authors.
