I had an idea for a joke that began with "STARTUPS HATE HER: DATA STRUCTURES TO NAME-DROP WHEN YOU WANT TO SOUND SMART IN AN INTERVIEW"

but then I started thinking about how much I truly love both data structures and talking smack, so here you go: blog.amynguyen.net/?p=853

1. bloom filters are pretty cool and they're used in google chrome for spam filtering!
2. prefix tries (and string algorithms in general) are widely used in bioinformatics genomics!
3. ring buffers are used for streaming data!

my other weird flex for today is bragging that my instagram handle is 🌺bloomfilter🌺, which is the greatest pun I will ever achieve in my lifetime

second of all, i failed algorithms in college and took it twice, so you can rest assured i know it doubly well
