More on the #CovingtonCatholic debacle. PART 2 -- AFTERMATH AND ANALYSIS (now with even more sources)
There appears to be a horrible culture brewing at CCH. It is, as stated, an all male school staffed entirely by a white administration. Any students of diversity are pretty much hazed.

Last month, one of its star graduates was charged with a violent rape, his second accusation in fact.

The boys have been photographed at basketball games in blackface screaming at black athletes on the other team.

The priest who acted as a chaperone supports the idea that: "Boys will be boys," and that boys need an outlet for their aggression. That is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and sexist position to hold. And, like it or not, KY isn't known for it's liberal minded or diverse thinking.
Furthermore, they wore MAGA hats, clearly taking a political stance. To many minority communities, that is a clear indication of what you support, just as clear as if you donned a Klan hood or waved a Confederate flag in their face.
It's not "just politics" when you support a man who has fully endorsed the separation of families and fostered a culture where sexual abuse of minors at those camps was swept under the rug.
Even as the boys participated in a "March for Life" this weekend, ICE detained a woman at her GREEN CARD MARRIAGE INTERVIEW. They sent her to a holding center to prepare for deportation. She was 5 months into a high-risk pregnancy. She was denied her medications.
And the people holding up "Defund Planned Parenthood" forget that in many places, PP and other such places are the only place that low income women can get affordable reproductive health care.
When Pence made a move in Indiana to do just that, do you remember what happened? It contributed to the largest HIV epidemic in Indiana history.

Wearing a MAGA hat to a "March for Life" clearly says that you are suffering from cognative dissonance. Interacting with minority communities while wearing a MAGA hat indicates you are not there to help, but you are a threat.
And I read the boy's "statement." Knowing that the boy's family hired a Crisis PR firm to get through this should tell you a great deal. His mother is a VP at Fidelity.

cnn.com/2019/01/20/us/…
The family apparently has enough money to not only send their child to an elite, private, all-male school, but also hire a Crisis PR firm. And the statement reads that way. 2 and a half pages, 12 paragraphs, written by a 16/17 year old boy? Please. No.
And there is not one single sentence that, in conjunction with the videos, reads as sincere. This is a rich family scrambling to cover up a misstep.
In another 20 years, Nicholas Sandmann will be looking back on his calendars to see when he had "brewskis with Squi." He's learned nothing except that money can cover your tracks.
It's disappointing, and even more disappointing to watch people race to excuse him.

He and his friends were involved in a tumultuous situation that they were not prepared to deal with. They will come out of it protected and scott-free.
And, again, their parents and chaperones will have failed them, this time for their future as well. Their chaperones let them wear those hats, knowing the undercurrents of it today.
Their parents encouraged the rhetoric with complaints about "black muslims" and "terrorists." They are trying to hide the boys' bad behavior away with Crisis PR statements.
And not one of them has acknowledged that what they did was wrong. No one has said: "Those kids should not have been left alone at the Memorial."
Sandmann talks about how he stood up to Phillips by using his faith. If you are a Christian, you should be outright appalled and offended that he is using his faith as a scapegoat.
These are not "poor, maligned boys." These are boys who suffered from a deficit of good sense adult supervision. And instead of being told their behavior was wrong, they are being told they are victims. Because, after all, "boys will be boys."
If we want boys to be better, we need to teach them better. CCH has failed at that.
