The codex PP is a in-4° volume, vertical, in a thin parchment. Today, this manuscript has 98 folios, i.e. nearly 45% of the Qur’anic text, dispersed in several libraries in Paris, St. Petersburg, Vatican and London.

As all the other witnesses of the first 2 centuries Higra, it has no date and no localisation. We only know the site where it was preserved, at least at the end of the 19e cent. : the storage of the ‘Amr mosque in Fustat.

1. The folios are written by 5 scribes. All respect some rules in lay-out and use the Hijazi style, but in different ways. 3 scribes are unaware of any concept of Qur’anic calligraphy. And 2 are clearly more skilled, as their style already tends to the later Umayyad script.

2. Its orthography show more defective spellings than other manuscripts. But some spellings are already in line with an orthographic reform. Thus, it perhaps predates slightly the more effective orthographic reform, attributed to al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf around 84/703-85/704.
