last night i was streaming my attempts to play some apple iigs games and it was just *not working*, I kept trying and trying and getting bizarre behavior. I'd take one disk out, put in another, and it would act like it was the same disk!
i'd swap disks and the OS would never acknowledge it, but I thought this machine had disk insert notification. i could eject a disk, then put another image in, and it would show the data from the first disk!
it would even persist through reboots and *shutting down the emulator.* ignoring the why, *where* was it even keeping the state??? I couldn't find any kind of state file in the directory
today it finally dawned on me that I had been ignoring a message in the debug console that I really shouldn't have
when i ejected an image and put in another, the emulator was *not* noticing this, and would then register a difference between the image in RAM and on disk

it then proceeded to write out the RAM copy of the disk to the file on my hard drive, so now I have a bunch of images that have the wrong contents in them. i have to EXPLICITLY eject the disk IN THE OS before putting in another or it'll just wipe the new image!
