By all means, stick with the "I'm socially liberal, fiscally sadistic" party line. B/c that's worked out so well for everyone over the years.
But as a member of the professional upper middle class, I do wonder about these polls. I don't know anyone in this group that says, "I love my healthcare plan at work so much." Frankly I don't know anyone who even says "I like it." I'm open to the empirical evidence but it's
the kind of thing that I wonder if surface polling can really capture (as the polling that Brownstein digs deeper into also shows, incidentally).
So that's the question going into the 2020 Democratic primary: You either favor social liberalism and fiscal sadism or you want a multicultural, interracial social democracy.
