Some are saying Abramson didn’t plagiarize because she appended a source list, but even if you properly cite, it’s STILL plagiarism if you don’t change the sourced material enough or rely too heavily on it to the extent of co-opting it.

The examples suggest she did that. A lot.
The consequence of plagiarism is that when you do it, you’re reaping rewards for other people’s imaginative and investigative labor and, in the process, denying them the benefits of their own work, whether those are eyeballs, money, credit, fame or plaudits.
Even if Frisch is properly cited, if reading Abramson’s chapter means that no one will want to read Frisch’s original article because so much of its content is already included in her version, it’s almost certainly over the line.
The online process of “aggregation” is similar, and similarly slimy: Filleting a longer article and serving it up on your own site to steal clicks.

Ironically, it’s sketchy, journalistically dubious practices like these that Abramson slams in her book, Merchants of Truth.
