Another MS publication thinks a profile of white middle America is a money-maker (that’s what covers are about).

And it’s condescending (17yo is not a “boy”).

And February is #BlackHistoryMonth2019, @esquire. <smh>
Oh. Right.

He’s persecuted because he’s a Trump supporter in a generation of Americans (17-30) that has resoundingly rejected Trump. Even though the generation is still majority white (barely).

It’s not going to make Trump like the mainstream press. It sure as hell won’t make his supporters like you, either.
Trump is a bully, evidenced by his daily stream of personal attacks and his invectives against the media that lead to events like that in Texas last night.

These are not “American values” and do not need the validation that cover stories invoke.
But hey. @esquire thinks its job is to explain white male privilege.

How else to justify this other river of ink?

Excellent analysis of "FACT" and Whittaker from #TPM

Whitaker's op-ed was "highly critical of a candidate, and he ought not to be doing that, because it’s a political partisan comment."

Whittaker founded his Section 501c3 NFP in 2015.

Section 501c3 tax code prohibits non-profits "from supporting or opposing political candidates during a campaign." But "FACT" under Whittaker did that more than once.

Calvary Baptist Church is an imposing three-story brick building with twin towers capped by brick parapets. In the early 20th century it served as the religious and social center of Oklahoma City's black community. In 1953, 24 year old Martin Luther King Jr.
preached a sermon for consideration of becoming the pastor at the church. He was turned down because he was told he was too young. He returned in 1963 to speak before a crowd of 1,500 at Cavalry for the "Freedom Rally." Sit-ins--or what were then called "sitdowns"--

My #BlackHistoryMonth story:

In February of my senior year of high school, there was a Black History Month presentation scheduled. But attendance was optional.

The optional attendance policy upset the black students in the school. They staged a walkout during the lunch periods.
My 4th period class -- lunch periods shared the same time slots as 4th period classes -- was all white students, so we sat in our room during the walkout, which I think we could see from our window. None of us kids really understood why the walkout was occurring.
After all, it was a Black History Month presentation, so why should everyone have to attend it, instead of just students who were interested in Black History (whatever that meant), of whatever race? The attitude in the room was one of mainly confusion.

Its notable for being in stark contrast to much of the harsh stereotyping common in the Golden Age of Comics

Back in 1949, if you had asked who the "Big Two" in comic books were, you might get the answer of National (DC) and Fawcett.

Fawcett Publishing was founded by "Captain Billy" Fawcett, and rose to prominence with Captain Billy's Whiz Bang joke book
