Court stenographers often misunderstand Black English, and their mistakes could affect people’s lives at crucial junctures.

A black man on the phone from a jail in San Francisco said, in 2015, “He come tell ’bout I’m gonna take the TV,” which meant that this man was not going to do so.
The transcriber listening in couldn’t understand the first part, apparently, and recorded the whole statement as “I’m gonna take the TV.”

@SonnieJohnson We can learn from these dissimilar struggles! There is nothing wrong with sharing true racial stories to t others who’ve never experienced them. That is powerful. Black, urban kids can learn a lot from white, Appalachian kids and that’s power, too
@SonnieJohnson Real issue: Is it coming from a place that contributes to an atmosphere of inclusivity; an inclusive society or does it contribute to an exclusive and racist society?

It’s a difference that makes the difference.

For over 25 years, I have met some of the brightest black minds in this country join the Republican Party, get used, exploited for their talents, get passed over for Black fame oriented conservatives who weren’t even qualified to hang their coat.

It is sad.
It is shameful.
And one is forced to ask: Are White Conservatives exploiting the very racial group tgat the party was founded for? And the answer is yes.

Their outreach efforts work: It REPELS minorities whilst attracting white nationalist; that’s the cumulative impact of their demonic actions.
It works perfectly.

When I was too insular and numb to understand how his words could potentially (and did) affect people's lives, I found Milo moderately amusing on news programmes as a guy bringing vague unpredictability to a stale format.
It doesn't excuse it *at all*, but I assumed everybody was aware that he was just saying anything offensive for attention, and I saw him as a harmless pest. It wasn't until I saw vids of huge crowds unironically cheering his statements that I hated him.
I have made a lot of mistakes like this. I took a lot of things for granted. The biggest part of it is almost certainly white guy privilege, but another part is a feeling of complete isolation from society.

As I continue reading Jeffrey Race’s War Comes To Long An, I find that the genius of the American system of government was confirmed by what the communists did in Vietnam. Early on, the communists recognized that the central government of South Vietnam held all the power.
Mind you, in the communist system of government, the central government holds all the power, but the communists, wisely, deceived the people to that reality. In order to leech power from the central government, they focused all their efforts on the chi bo - the local government.
Decisionmaking was pushed to the lowest levels of the societal organizations - the village council. In fact, the communists stated that completely autonomous local councils was their goal. Obviously, this was not their longterm goal, but deceit is their stock in trade.

Rappelons ce dont il s’agit : 100 000 euros ont été débloqués pour 10 places pour une « crèche » (je reviendrai sur le sens du mot dans le fil, il ne faut pas s’imaginer que c’est comme à l’extérieur) à Fleury-Mérogis, pour les bébés qui vivent en prison avec leur mère
Dupont-Aignan s’indigne, déclare que le «confort des délinquants» est la «priorité du gouvernement», à la charge du contribuable. Rappelons qu’il s’agit de place pour des bébés et de très jeunes enfants qui ne sont pas des délinquants, sauf si on considère que c’est génétique...

1/ In recent days, conservative media sources have seriously discussed the possibility that General Michael Flynn will be permitted to withdraw his guilty plea due to government misconduct. This theory is wildly improbable, to say the least.
2/ This theory appears to have started based a standing order entered by the judge in Flynn's case. A "standing order" is an order entered by the judge in all cases of a particular type. Flynn's judge has a separate order in civil and criminal cases: dcd.uscourts.gov/judge-emmet-g-…
