@ScottAdamsSays 1) Alright, I can't comment on this, but you're driving me absolutely nuts right now: socialism vs capitalism is a sliding scale, with where a country is on the scale dependent on how much the government has intervened in the economy. That's as plain as I can put it.
@ScottAdamsSays 2) (By can't comment, i mean in the periscope) What makes 'Socialism' with the items you've listed occur is the break-even point at which a government has become so intertwined in the economy, in the industries making up that economy, that it collapses in upon itself.
@ScottAdamsSays 3) At this point, the government by virtue of having gobbled up authority in all these industries and over the economy attempts to assert its power even as its structures collapse, which is where the dictators, genocide, and economic collapse occur.
@ScottAdamsSays 4) No government is able to in the long term maintain effective control of its country's economy once this breakeven point has been surpassed, at which point a cascade of failures occurs where it is human nature that violence erupts amidst the collapse.
@ScottAdamsSays 5) I was actually about to get to that, yes! China at first clamped down on its industries and the resulting famine and dictatorship caused the deaths of millions. China is probably the ONE example of a country which moved the opposite direction.
@ScottAdamsSays 6) They still have state-level societal control, but they've allowed Chinese companies to act in a hypercapitalistic manner, which while still leaving the nation on tenuous ground economically (one good recession would fuck them) has created economic growth regardless.
@ScottAdamsSays 7) Now, what's a SOCIALIST?

A SOCIALIST is someone who wants to move away from capitalism and towards socialism. A democratic socialist is someone who is pushing that direction but wears a nice tie while they do so. No, England and Canada are not under socialism.
@ScottAdamsSays 8) But they are pushing that direction and they have politicians such as the uk labor party and Trudeau who are socialists or 'democratic socialists' pushing their nations that direction. Even the United States has been pushed towards socialism.
@ScottAdamsSays 9) I call Obama a socialist not because he created socialism in the United States, but because he pushed us towards socialism with his widespread government intervention in the economy. Cash for Clunkers, Obamacare, the government czars for GM and Chrysler, the CFPB...
@ScottAdamsSays 10) Shutting down the coal industry, picking and choosing winners in green energy development, Theranos, etc etc etc.

I call him a socialist because while he didn't make the US a socialism-based nation he made several large strides in that direction.
@ScottAdamsSays 11) Because I assume Mr Adams is framing the argument as a fusion of how the left+right sees it, ignoring the historical precedent that fascist government inevitably intervene FURTHER in the economy, there's never a fascist government that went capitalist
@ScottAdamsSays 12) In reality, there very IDEA of fascism being some kind of offshoot of capitalism is absurd and completely baseless to the point that even entertaining the notion completely fucks with whatever point you'd be trying to make.
@ScottAdamsSays 13) Every nation that has ever been considered 'fascist', WW2 Germany, Mussolini's Italy, WW2 Spain, INTERVENED in their economies and industries, they NEVER liberalized and shifted towards capitalism. I challenge ANYONE to name a fascist nation that moved towards capitalism.
@ScottAdamsSays 14) They. Don't. Exist. Fascism is the consolidation of government power, to include government intervention into the economy. To move towards capitalism is to relinquish government power into the economy. The two concepts are wholly incompatible.
@ScottAdamsSays 15) So, I'm sorry, but this entire thought model that you've presented to us doesn't work. This isn't even multiple screens or me not being able to see the 'persuasion' channel. The way you've established your whiteboard diagram flies in the face of reality and kills the point /e
