Negotiations ab loan began in March 2017, before Manafort was arrested or convicted of any crime. Parties agreed to terms in July. Mtge agreement was signed on Aug. 7, a few weeks after Manafort’s Virginia house was raided by the FBI but before news of the raid was made public.
