I spent a large portion of my childhood in a country that didn't widely adopt the MMR vaccine until much later and got measles. IT SUCKED. Also you can't treat it with antibiotics, unlike what terribly ignorant lawmakers are currently saying. It's a virus my dudes.
After the symptoms ceased, I had to avoid loud noise and bright light for a long time (a month or so; also, no reading, TV, or leaving my bed for a week) because of the very real possibility of optic or aural damage. It can also lead to encephalitis. cdc.gov/measles/about/…

Why would you put your own child through that? Why would you play with the possibility of infecting anothers' child? Or an immunocompromised adult?
