Nah sekarang setelah bahas CV, what’s next?

Etika berkirim e-mail.

Sadly, ternyata masih banyak yang apply kerja tapi ngirim email kayak begini.

It’s worse than making a bad CV, capiche?
Gini, kalau CV itu diibaratkan wajah kita, e-mail adalah cara agar wajah kita dilirik orang.

Wajah cakep, tapi nyapa orang pake geplak kepalanya dari belakang. Boro-boro mau merhatiin wajah cakep kita, orangnya bakal keburu bete gak sih?

Nah, gimana cara ‘menyapa’ yang benar?
1. Subject e-mail.
Pakai subject e-mail yang relevan dengan posisi yang dilamar. Gak perlu masukin nama.

<wrong> Job Application - Nicky

<correct> Job Application - Digital Marketing Manager
Ini akan mempermudah HR untuk sortir application yg masuk. Bayangin kalo ada 10 jenis vacancy dan ratusan orang kirim nama instead of posisi, HR nya bisa mabok sortir 1-1😅

So kalo gak include job position, besar kemungkinan CV nya gak bakal dinotice HR.
2. Body e-mail.
Ini gak kalah pentingnya sama subject. Jangan harap CV akan dibuka HR kalo gak ada body emailnya.

Body e-mail itu basically versi pendek dari cover letter. Isinya sebaiknya:
a. Salutation
<Dear Mr./Ms. Wijaya>

atau kalo gak tau namanya,

<Dear HR Manager>
b. Clear intention
Paragraf 1, jelasin dengan singkat padat jelas tujuan berkirim email.

Paragraf 2: Jelasin kualifikasi singkat yang relevan dengan pekerjaan yang dilamar, DAN kontribusinya ke company.
Paragraf 3: Informasikan apa saja yang diattach.
Paragraf 4: Appropriate closing.
Trust me, dengan begini, HR akan merasa kalau pelamar kerja memang niat melamar dan bukan cuma iseng sebar CV ke semua company.

Walaupun memang kenyataannya kamu sebar CV, please pay attention to this detail to each one of them.
3. File name.
Surprisingly masih banyak loh yang submit CV tapi nama file ya masih <document 1.pdf>
SERIOUSLY?😭

It’s a crucial mistake that will surely fail you. Make sure ngasih nama file yang appropriate;
<CV Nicky Wijaya - Sales Executive>

Jenis file - nama - posisi.
Another pro-tip:
Sekarang banyak vacancy yang dibuka melalui job portal perusahaan, bukan melalui e-mail langsung ke HRD lagi.

If you really really want the job and feel qualified, cari tau siapa HR recruitment di company itu, dan kirim e-mail langsung ke beliau.
It will show your persistence, dan kalau memang kamu qualified, itu akan membantu HR mempersingkat waktu filtering ratusan application yang masuk instead of di job application.

But ONLY do it when you feel like really qualified. Kalo nggak, HRnya bisa bete.
