#Pumpy paper is out @NatureComms - "Automating Multimodal Microscopy with NanoJ-Fluidics"! We developed an open-source inexpensive #LEGO-based fluidics system that can be coupled to a microscope to achieve high-performance imaging nature.com/articles/s4146…
We created video abstract with @LaineBioImaging and @christlet that quickly explains paper. #Pumpy enables live-to-fixed imaging, fixation-on-event, super-resolution sequential-labelling (unlim. number protein species), it adds a new dimension to what’s possible at the microscope
@LaineBioImaging @christlet @palmada86 @P_Matos_Pereira did an excellent job making #Pumpy happen. An excellent collaboration with the Charras, @BaumBuzz and @christlet labs. Kudos to @christlet, despite the distance we interacted almost on a daily basis getting the paper together

We created a @github page explaining all the steps needed to put it together. We traced 23 labs that have already build a copy of the system

First thing is live-to-fixed imaging, allowing you to observe a live-sample for few minutes, fix it, then immunostain to observe extra proteins - all automatically by the #LEGO-pumps at the microscope nature.com/articles/s4146… @christlet @LaineBioImaging
Second thing #Pumpy can do - unsupervised experiments, thanks to its programmatic interface. Here a pattern recognition algorithms searches for cells in mitosis then triggering staining. Cells are precisely fixed on same state nature.com/articles/s4146… @christlet @LaineBioImaging
Next we can do live-to-fixed #SuperResolution Microscopy. In this example #Pumpy helps the microscope initiate experiments with #SRRF and then switch to #STORM for increased resolution nature.com/articles/s4146…

@Red_Green_Cow another place where we used red green
@Red_Green_Cow, thank you for your work raising awareness for colour blindness in science data. I'm going to highlight a couple of places where unfortunately we forgot to avoid red green colours. One is this movie
