One of the most important documents in the 2019/2020 fight for fair elections was published today by @OSET. At first blush it might appear to only apply to GA, but it has national importance. Constitutional questions raised re: barcode balloting. 1/ trustthevote.org/wp-content/upl…
2/ This unauditable BMD technology is being adopted at rapid rates by counties across the country without understanding the security risks and the inability to audit the results. The nation's leading expert in post-election auditing @philipbstark says--
3/ _ @OSET report explains that there is “no way for the voter to verify what choices are actually being counted, and hence for the majority of solutions, the ballot cannot be said to be “verifiable” by the voter.” [GA new bill requires voter-verifiable ballot. ES&S cannot meet.]
4/ BMDs being promoted in PA, NC, SC, NY, VA & other states are considering and some buying this flawed BMD technology. The serious questions of constitutional violations should cause decision-makers to pause & reconsider. @CoalitionGoodGv attorneys also say it's unconstitutional
5/ This @OSET report will take a while to sink in with the election officials and election geeks. It is written in such a factual, legally conservative, and unemotional way that the shockwaves haven't yet begun. Stay tuned.
6/ The question is how did this electronic voting equipment get this far in many counties across the country buying these systems without anyone saying, "Hey, what about the Constitution?" Of course it makes no sense to require voter to cast a vote he cannot read.
7/ Many of these systems have been sold for last few years, and no states, local officials, or EAC have asked the obvious questions re: requiring voters to cast unreadable ballot--thereby burdening the right to vote. Time to stop buying this flawed equipment and think!
9/ A few yrs. ago, one of our attorneys likened casting a barcode vote to casting a vote by proxy and not knowing how you proxy may vote. We don't vote by proxy in this county!
8/ This #HB316 requirement and others eliminate the ability for ES&S and Dominion (the two largest vendors) to sell their BMD products to GA! We at @CoalitionGoodGv had also warned @GaSecofState about this issues. See sub-thread--
