Thanks @rickhasen for exposing this issue for debate. @philipbstark & @rad_atl & @OSET, please weigh in here. What is missing is the understanding that the BMD (sometimes barcoded) ballot is not a reliable source record for auditing. BMD proponents are missing that point.
Thanks to @rickhasen blog, I saw this Tweet response from Becker that he blocks me from seeing. The bill does indeed require audits---audits that CANNOT be performed according to auditing experts (and common sense.) The ballot cannot be verified by the voter = unauditable.

Read/hear @JohnnyIK @NPR report on voting bill, now law. Look at nonsense, dishonest claim by @GaSecofState that there is "100% confidence that result was right!!" But there is ZERO confidence. These lies will not stand.

2/GA officials claim that machines will "eliminate questions about voter intent." There is NO basis to believe this at all. Touchscreen input error rates higher than hand marking paper ballots. GA officials---stop LYING to voters!
3/ Raffensperger claims that education will "win people over," but just the opposite is true. Education will cause people to reject this technology as the unauditable junk that it is!

Tutorial on how to make a map using QGIS. I'll turn @SenhorRaposa's 2000 Vermont town data into a map showing by how much Gore outran Senator Jeffords (or vice versa) in every town.
Step 1: Download QGIS for your computer, which is available here:
qgis.org/en/site/foruse…
You'll also need some of Census' Tiger/Line County and County Sub shapefiles. The main download page for those is here:
census.gov/cgi-bin/geo/sh…

A direct link to the 2017 VT county sub shapefile is here: ftp://ftp2.census.gov/geo/tiger/TIGER2017/COUSUB/tl_2017_50_cousub.zip
I can't find a 2017 County file by state, so we'll use the 2009 verison here:
