First, I want to think @AmandaFritzRN for her commitment to public service and her long-standing commitment to getting big money out of politics. She was standing in support of open and accountable elections before it was fashionable. wweek.com/news/city/2019…
History will look fondly upon that work. Also, I have to mention that she is just a kind soul and a great person to work with. She was in it for all the right reasons. I hope that whatever is next is fulfilling and brings further happiness.
Next, the list of people mentioned in stepping in to fill her seat is amazing and I am so excited to see what our community will do. Our council got a hell of a lot better this year and in 2020 we also have the opportunity to unseat our morally defunct mayor.
I am so happy to see Sarah Iannarone who ran for mayor in 2016 mentioned in these conversations. I interviewed her for my podcast recently and was blown away by her knowledge. progressivestackpod.com/episodes/2019/…
She was a top tier candidate last go around and has only sharpened her networks, skills, and policies since then.
Who do you want to see run for city council and/or mayor?
People I am excited about:
- Kayse Jama
- Diego Hernandez
- Carmen Rubio
- Sarah Iannarone

Who's on your mind?
Regardless, I'm excited for Portland in 2020. Makes it hard to be in Atlanta.
