The firing of anyone who won’t pledge loyalty, expansion of detainment camps (who are they for?), refusal to hand over info, attempt to start war in the Middle East, dog whistle to neo-Nazis by misstating that his father was born in Germany
Now we see a travel warning for immigrants & POC in Florida
I’m asking you to do a few things EVERYDAY until we successfully defeat him:
🔹Call your MOC 202-224-3121
Demand release of the report
Demand separation of families stop
Demand taxes released
🔹Be prepared to March in DC
Small local matches will not be enough
🔹Supoort our Dem leaders. They are fighting for us
🔹Pay attention to the people around you: POC, immigrants, LGBTQs, Jews, Muslims, activists
These groups are the most vulnerable. Use your privilege to protect them. Literally. Physically.
🔹Nazi Germany is unfolding in front of our eyes. The difference is, we KNOW. Protect each other. It is possible that people will start disappearing. We are the Resistance. Tweeting won’t keep them safe. We will

A random historical footnote: People you may not know about, but probably should. By Robert Peeples

When Frances Perkins was a little girl she asked her parents why nice people could be poor.
Her father told her not to worry about those things, and that poor people were poor because they were lazy and drank. Eventually she went to Mount Holyoke College and majored in physics. In her final semester she took a class in American economic history.
She toured the mills along the Connecticut River to see working conditions. She was horrified.
Eventually, instead of teaching until she married, she earned a masters in social work from Columbia University. In 1910 Perkins became Executive Secretary of the NYC Consumers League.

Why do people have ridiculous beliefs?

Like climate denial, creationism. Or that DJT is a good president.

Many think such beliefs can be reconciled with a “rational,” “bayesian” account.

I don’t.

Here, I’ll walk through all the evidence against.
I’ll list 5 counterarguments

1) accurate beliefs would be quite *counterproductive,* in these domains

2) beliefs coincide *too well* with what we are incentivized to believe

3) disagreement is * known* to be *systematic* & *persistent*
4) belief updating is biased in ways that *cannot* be reconciled w/ bayes rule.

5) when we *do* have stronger accuracy motives, our beliefs look quite different.

Some things you can do during someone else's panic attack, a living thread:
1. Don't say:
- calm down
- just don't worry
- you're being ridiculous

Do say:
- I'm here
- this will pass
- you are safe
2. Distract. Show them photos of your dog. Ask them to tell you about what they last bought at the supermarket (if that doesn't help, tell them what you bought). Give them one of your sultanas.

I keep thinking back to a discussion a few months on reddit about THE BELGARIAD. Several comments were made about it being cliche and pedestrian, and someone said, “Yeah, it’s a fine story, but it’s never going to be a classic.”
And all I could think to respond was, “It’s over thirty years later and we’re still talking about it. How is that NOT ‘a classic’?
But that got me thinking- I cite THE BELGARIAD (and THE MALLOREON, its sequel series) as one of my influential works. But what is that influence? I know I’ve read the whole series several times. My copies of the books are in terrible shape.

People ask me about intro to GPU mining which is crazy because I am a lawyer who plays with computers in his "free time". IF you mine with GPUs in your house A) you will burn it down B) you will lose **ALL** your money. Now let's get started.
This is the best motherboard I've found for n00bs such as myself because you don't have to tweak the bios settings.
1) if you have never built a computer before you need to either a) buy a gaming pc and at the very least upgrade the ram, harddrive and power supply or b) grab a cheap motherboard and build a Linux (preferred) or Windows PC. Keep in mind that Windows kills people.. Choose wisely
