In a lot of cases Brexit (and soft Toryism) is a quest founded on love. It's grandparents TRYING to build a better future for their grandkids by returning the world to what they remember

But that world doesn't - and can't - exist anymore. The battle is to make them realise that.
You don't beat that view by REJECTING what they see as an act of kindness. That's like being ungrateful at being offered a wedding present you don't like.

It's about doing what that grandson did - finding a better way to say:

"Thank you for caring, but please don't."
This is also why the VERY BEST THING that Pro-remain parties can do in the EU elections (and ANY new referendum) is focus on:

1) Getting the youth vote OUT
2) Finding ways to HELP that youth vote make their parents/grandparents trust them when they say 'don't do this please'.

The Hut Six Story by Gordon Welchman: Welchman effectively broke the silence on the existence and work of Bletchley during WW2. This 1980s book (originally published only in the US) got him on GCHQs/Thatchers shitlist and they effectively destroyed his career.
Saturday at MI9 by Airey Neave MP: Before (allegedly) plotting to overthrow the government and his death at the hands of the IRA, Neave both escaped German captivity and then helped run MI9 (one of the forgotten MIs), which was in charge of helping Airmen escape occupied Europe.

The first look at updating Boulder's building codes (which sounds like a total snore, but there are actually some interesting things in there.) We've also got a discussion on meth use in the city, which has been decouples from one over homeless encampments.
And council will be voting to call up the Liquor Mart development: 147 apartments and ground-floor retail.

I need ever Nigerian in America to stop pretending you can fairly speak for all of the #Naija people in the world.
If you associate with the 419 criminals and the people who look down on Black Americans, ok, speak for you. It’s a common prejudice BUT IT IS NOT UNIVERSAL.

Okay. As someone who grew up in a destitute town that used to thrive on mining and collapsed years ago, I need to briefly fucking re-litigate 2016 because I feel like people STILL don't goddamn get it.
Bill Clinton devastated a lot of these communities. So there's a ton of resentment there. But let's be perfectly clear: NOT ALL OF THAT WAS BY DIRECTLY DESTROYING FUCKING JOBS. So you can't just say, "but he didn't ACTUALLY destroy their jobs." Because fuck you.
A lot of these communities were already suffering when Bill Clinton came along. But he threw salt in their wounds with things like the welfare reform bill and the criminal justice bill. This took already hurt communities and devastated them.

They could just as easily have called them diversity deserts, because the issue above all else is these White rural communities don’t just lack accurate news, they lack *people of color*. They’re racist, sexist and ignorant in general due to segregation, not just fake news.
