If you have seen or shared this article, please know that it is filled with incorrect quotes, cites bogus studies, and is generally full of shit. forbes.com/sites/bernardm… To not fall prey to this, I recommend @JennBinis as a follow, who is on top of the bad edupreneur narratives.
The Institute for the Future report that's cited is produced by an industry think tank and cites a non-existent source for its central claim. It is pure propaganda. insidehighered.com/blogs/just-vis…
As @JennBinis pointed out it also shares a particularly resilient made-up John Dewey quote. @doxtdatorb ran down the full story on its bogusness. longviewoneducation.org/are-we-robbing…
Everyone gets things wrong in their writing, but part of the gig of putting your ideas into the world is trying to make sure they're as sound as possible within the boundaries of human fallibility. It's a shame @Forbes offers a platform to those who don't care about the truth.
The sheer number of people who have uncritically shared that article is just so depressing. Maybe 1 out of 50 or 100 recognize that it's cobbled together from bogus sources and adds up to nonsense. These are administrators, teachers, businesspeople. It's terrible news for us.
I may lose my shit permanently over this stuff someday. It really drives me around the bend.
