Hi everyone - someone just sent me a blog post, which I won't share (am reporting to the police) which contains a thinly veiled incitement to violence against Equality and Human Rights Commission staff and me over the Labour antisemitism investigation 1/4
The guy who posted it is clearly a bad apple and rants about the EHRC being controlled by the Israeli Embassy, but the post also contains language which I have seen reflected across a number of high-follower 'left' accounts, e.g. the EHRC being in some way infiltrated... 2/4
... by Israel/Jews, about me and them being "obsessed"/politically motivated/secretly in cahoots. I appreciate this is a controversial and sensitive issue but please can people try and watch who and what they retweet, be responsible, don't add to this environment 3/4
I try to ignore nasty/libellous stuff I find when I search my name/EHRC. I don't want to give it oxygen, is mostly cranks, but please can people think before they tweet or support conspiracy theories/nasty stuff. I and the EHRC staff are real people with families etc. Thanks 4/4
Should also say that the same incitement to violence is also on Twitter and the person involved has over 3,000 followers. Have reported to Twitter and the Met Police
I have explained how it can be that I am part of a standing panel of counsel for the EHRC (along with most of the human rights Bar) and also act in this matter entirely separately from the people investigating the Labour Party
OK, I'm really annoyed now. I didn't want to post these tweets which clearly incite violence towards EHRC staff and me as I thought it would be better just to get them taken down. But Twitter have *rejected* my complaint about them. 1/3
I complained on the basis that the tweets encourage violence (which they clearly do) and they include hatred towards a racial group (which they do). I know a lot of people get abuse but @Twitter should take some responsibility to protect lawyers just doing their jobs 2/3
The guy who tweeted is clearly disturbed and as far as I can see (based on other instances of similar behaviour) but can I ask that people don't post his stuff or respond to him. If you want to report his tweets, please go ahead 3/3
Oh and this guy doesn't seem to be a Labour member, based on stuff I've read about him. He may be a @PeoplesMomentum member as he says he gets their emails. But see my tweets above about the general atmosphere which extends to a number of purportedly 'left' accounts.
@PeoplesMomentum Just got a nice email out of the blue from the @PeoplesMomentum office confirming that this guy isn’t a member. I have said before that I have respect for the people in the central office there
