in 2016, the Dem prosecutors of Virginia's Arlington & Fairfax signed on to a lawsuit against @TerryMcAuliffe's order restoring voting rights

this Tuesday, they face primary challengers, who're asking why any citizen shld be disenfranchised

my primer: appealpolitics.org/2019/virginia-…
When the Supreme Court struck down @TerryMcAuliffe 's executive order over GOP lawmakers' lawsuit (with prosecutors' supporting brief), the then-governor then wrote in a statement that the court "has placed Virginia as an outlier in the struggle for civil & human rights."
McAuliffe then signed orders individually restoring rights of 173K people post-sentences. I asked the 2 challengers whether they'd back going even further to abolish disenfranchisement

@parisa4justice: yes (left)
@SteveDescano: never heard a good reason to disenfranchsie (right)
those screengrabs are from interviews

Stamos, Arlington incumbent, told me a reason she'd joined lawsuit was that rights of people on probation & others were being (mistakenly) restored. Very diff answer.
