You could wonder why these @phoenixpolice officers would do this after a four-year-old girl lifted a dollar-store Barbie when she didn’t know any better. But “the cruelty is the point” doesn’t just apply to President Trump.
It should go without saying that the @phoenixpolice officers involved in this incident should be fired and prosecuted for assault, even if that seems unlikely. But the problem remains the system that allows for such abuse of power. I know this has been said. It bears repeating.
The @phoenixpolice officers who brutalized that black family also lied on their report to make it seem as if their lives were endangered. Turned off their body cameras. Bystanders with phones created the only path to accountability. The system is broken.
