An article from April 2018 titled "London murder rate overtakes New York as knife crime rises" has suddenly been making the rounds on Twitter again for a little over a week. A couple of brief observations. . .

First, a large fraction of the traffic is automated (353 of 1342 tweets, 26.3%,) but very little is from bots in the sense of mostly/purely automated accounts. The trend appears to be driven by Facebook crossposts, especially early on in the spike.

Second: one would think that the crime rate in London would be a topic primarily discussed by UK Twitter accounts. One would be wrong: only 131 of 917 accounts (14.3%) with geographic information in their profiles claim UK residence; most (619, 67.5%) are right-wing US accounts.
